• 8 ½ cups flour 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon salt 1-1/2 cups instant nonfat dry milk
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder 2-1/4 cups vegetable shortening
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda


Sift together, in a large bowl, all dry ingredients. Stir well. Cut in shortening until evenly distributed. (the texture should look like cornmeal) Store in an airtight container in the proverbial cool dry place. Use within 10 to 12 weeks. Yield: 13 cups

To make pancakes, etc., stir together 3 cups mix and 2/3 cup water or milk.
