This is a tart, authentic cranberry sauce, just the way I like it.

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces (2 pkgs) whole cranberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 1-½ cups sugar
  • zest from 1/2 an orange

Directions

Bring water to a boil, dissolve sugar, then add cranberries and finely-chopped orange zest.

Bring the mixture back to a boil, cover the saucepan, and boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, immediately run through a strainer with a large spoon, then pour into a 1-quart mold. Chill for at least 4 hours, then remove from mold onto serving dish.

Makes just over a pint, about 18 oz
