Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive or canola oil (the Hungarians use lard :-)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon paprika (Szeged sweet paprika, in the red can)
  • 1 chicken, cut up (8 pieces)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions

Saute the onion in the oil in a large saucepan until translucent, then stir in the paprika. Add the chicken, and brown it in the onion/paprika mixture for several minutes, on both sides. Add 1/2 cup of water, turn down the heat and simmer under a tight cover for about 30 minutes.

Take the pan off heat, and stir in the sour cream.

Serve hot over nokedli or noodles.
