Ingredients

  • 15 oz. cooked garbanzo beans, (1 can)
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 3 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon pepper
  • 6 drops tabasco or other pepper sauce
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 4 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Discard liquid from the garbanzos, leaving 1 to 1-1/2 cups of beans. Puree the garbanzos in a blender with all ingredients except the olive oil, then add the olive oil to the center of the bowl, floating on top.

Serve with triangles of pita bread for dipping.

Notes

This is an excellent middle-eastern appetizer, and goes well with Tabouleh and/ or Babaganoosh
