Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2-½ cups sugar
  • 7 cups milk
  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 2-½ tablespoons vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Optional flavoring, see text

Directions

Beat eggs and add sugar slowly. Beat in everything else.

Mix in flavoring, then place in ice cream maker and follow the directions. Freeze to solidify.

Flavoring options:

For fruit ice cream, decrease the vanilla to 1 tbsp, and add 2 or 3 cups fresh fruit pulp instead of 2 or 3 cups milk.

For chocolate, decrease the vanilla to 1 tbsp, heat 2 of the cups of milk, and melt in 2 oz unsweetened chocolate.
