• 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup flour sifted with
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup nuts (I prefer pecans, but walnuts will do.)
  • 1 lb. of dates, chopped
  • powdered sugar

Beat eggs, adding one at a time, until very thick. Add sugar and vanilla and beat well, then stir in sifted dry ingredients. Stir in nuts and dates, making a mixture of nuts and dates barely coated with batter.

Spread into pan and bake until brown at 350∞F (no time given, 10 minutes, perhaps?) The bars spread thin and bake pretty fast. If overbaked, they will taste good, but be too crunchy under the powdered sugar. Go for a light brown.

While warm, cut into thirty-nine 3"x1" inch bars and quickly roll in the powdered sugar to coat. Store tightly covered.
