Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • cup Crisco
  • cup butter
  • 1-½ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1-½ cups rolled oats
  • ½-1 cup chopped walnuts or raisins(optional)

Directions

All mixing should be done by hand for this recipe. First mix the brown and granulated sugars together, then beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth. Combine the Crisco and butter separately, then beat into mixture.

Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg together, then slowly beat into the sugar mixture. Finally fold in the oats,and raisins or walnuts, if they are added.

Drop tablespoonfuls of the dough onto lightly greased cookie sheets, and bake at 350°F for 15 to 18 minutes until light brown.
