• 2 ⅓ cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, cut into 8 pieces
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg


Pre-heat oven to 375°F, and line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper. Sift first 5 ingredients into a large bowl, then cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles fine meal. Beat buttermilk and eggs in a small bowl, then add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.

Roll dough on a lightly-floured surface to a 1-inch thick round, then cut out 2-inch biscuits with a biscuit cutter. Gather and re-roll scraps, and cut out additional biscuits. Place on cookie sheet 1 inch apart, and bake until golden-brown (about 30 minutes).
