Over the last week, things have moved quickly. Our contractor put up a perimeter fence with gates, there are concrete barriers (K-rails”) across the front of the property in the street to create a work area, and the place is starting to look like a construction site.
The first task is to create a ramp up to the top of the site. A backhoe started moving dirt around a week ago, as you see above. Today, the place looks like this.
You can see that a ramp has taken shape, and that we’re hitting rock right away. This is mostly a good thing, since the lift (the excavated face) is stable, and we don’t have to remove too much soil behind the wall location to make the top of the face stable. In fact, rock is evident everywhere, like here at the bottom of the slope, next to the curb.
